For a classy, delicate decor with floral accents and toned down colors, look for torchiere style goose neck floor lamps. These lamps have the look of an upside down Tiffany style lamp with the soft lighting and the frosted glass torchiere shades. Often the torchiere style lamps have three separate lights and you can turn on one, two or all three at a time to adjust your lighting to your preference and mood.
Louis Tiffany began creating his signature lamps in 1895, while working as a stained glass designer for an interior design company in New York. The leftover bits of multicolored glass intrigued him, and he began assembling them into beautiful designs lamps. Soon, while he was still designing for the company as well as painting, he began designing lamps that would become known as one of the most important American artistic contributions of the late 19th century. His lamps became part of Europe’s Art Nouveau movement, and heavily influenced stained glass creation.
