How great is the feeling of when you have had one of those exhausting days at work where everything that could go wrong has gone wrong, and where you feel like you have not stopped all day and then you climb into bed? Then the feeling hits you, the feeling of total relaxation and relief that the day is over and done with and you can start again tomorrow, start afresh and put today behind you. There cannot be many more satisfying feelings than that. The feeling of complete safety and relaxation when being in your own bed is very hard to beat, those of you who stay away from home regularly and stay in hotels will understand what I mean more better than others. So what is it about your own bedroom that makes it so special and what can you do to make it even better?
There are so many different styles of bedroom furniture that you could opt for within your room that you should always be able to find a style to suit your taste and style without having to go down the route of the plain old white wood or plastic coated wood wardrobe and dressing table. Solid wood in a neutral pine looks very nice in both wardrobes and chests of drawers but there are darker wood options available if that is what you prefer. The good thing is that the price of the more quality pieces of bedroom furniture has come down in price considerably over the past few years.
Put only medium or small sized pieces of furniture in the bedroom to save more space. For example, you can consider putting a loft bed and desk underneath instead of using two separate pieces of bed and desk to sleep and for doing homework. If you feel that small pieces give a monotonous look, you can add more interest to the bedroom by adding some bigger pieces. For instance match the small bureaus with large sized chair or poster in the wall.
The materials that traditionally went into the construction of bedroom furniture are replaced, or at least transformed, in a modern bedroom furniture context. Out with the sober brown hues of oak, cherry or walnut and in with bright or contrasting colors of transformed wood, metal and plastic. Using these latter materials is one of the reasons that modern design has been able to break free of the constraints that fettered the traditionalist craftsmen. Metal for example can be forged, rounded, twisted or combined in ways that would have defeated any attempt with wood.
