Yet if fish tank tables are not your style, there are plenty of tables of every size shape and style out there for you to choose from. For instance you can get wooden, metal, glass and stone coffee tables; you can even get interactive coffee tables if you are willing to fork out for one which can display photographs, light up around anything you put on it and even charge your mobile phone! Okay, so not everyone wants to live in a Star Trek style house, but the possibility is there.
Decide on a focal point and start planning your Living room furniture around it. A fireplace usually serves as an excellent central focus point. If there isn’t one, you can arrange cabinets, showcases, music system and TV trolley against one wall, giving the whole assembly a neat modular appearance. Using the same material for all the items is more restful to the eye in confined spaces. Use light-colored woods like pine or maple. If you are living in a warmer climate, consider tubular structures of steel or brass. These don’t take up width and the arrangement has an open, spacious feel. Organize sufficient electrical points at strategic places on that wall, so that your equipment is connected without drawing long, unsightly wiring across the room. Depending on the amount of wall space, your cabinets could be designed vertically or horizontally. There is a lot of selection in both.
